Specklinia producta
This tiny orchid is endemic to the cloud forests of Ecuador. With leaves just 2cm long it has upright flower spikes with cute little yellow flowers that are quite long lasting. We have seen many wonderful Specklinias in the cloud forests of South America (first two photos) and always marvel at the tiny scale and the beaty of this gorgeous genus.
We grow this species mounted on Cork bark which allows it to show the beauty of the whole plant and prevents it from being outcompeted by moss.
We grow the species in our Cloud Forest Greenhouse where plants enjoys plenty of water and shade. The leaves can easily be burnt by too much sun from April onwards.
Plants flower when small but grow into lovely specimen plants over time. We are confident that it would be well suited to a terrarium.
