Masdevallia sanctae-inesae
This lovely species is a small growing Masdevallia with large flowers. The species is endemic to Ecuador and is reported from 1900-2500m in cloud forest. The species is very at home in our Cloud Forest Greenhouse (min 12C) where we grow it fairly low down to ensure it receives a fair amount of shade and doesn't dry out to quickly. We grow plants in basketrs and on cork mounts and water plants most days, often twice a day in the summer . The plant is small and compact but not a miniature with leaves around 8cm long and large flowers with long tails that grow horizontally from the base of the leaves.
