Vanda falcata is an extraordinary orchid native to Japan, China and Korea where it has a long and fascinating history of cultivation.
The species is small growing with a fan like growth and flower stems with 5 to 15 large fragrant flowers with long spurs for the pollinating moths. Flowers are very fragrant as well as beautiful.
Vanda falcata is native to tropical forest with a warm wet summer and a much dryer cooler winter. In cultivation we find plants straight forward as long as we replicate the natural habitat with some shade in summer and lots of water when plants are growing from April to September and just damp in the winter.
Most Vanda falcata clones have beautiful white flowers and we have a large white clone - photo 3 - a small white clone - photo 4 - and an unusual clone with deep pink stems and light pink spurs to the flowers - photos 1 and 2
