This is a medium sized orchids growing 30cm high with really pretty semi pendulous spikes of delicious green flowers.
Coelogyne abbreviata is endemic to Java and is reported from 700 to 2000m suggesting a wide temperature tolerance and we find the species thrives when grown in our Cloud Forest greenhouse (min 12C) although suspect it would be equally happy grown warmer.
In common with most of our Coelogynes we grow plants in large bark and water well especially in the growing season (summer) so that plants have plenty of moisture but good drainage.
Flowers are quite long lasting (about three weeks) and flower colour appears to be quite variable. As you can see our clone is a sparkling green with a slightly lighter lip. We hope to have plants for sale from spring 2026.
