This lovely Masdevallia is small growing with very large dramatically marked flowers. The species is native to Peru and Ecuador where it is reported growing in wet forests from 1500-3150m . The species closely resembles Masdevallia triangularis (below for comparison) which we find has smaller flowers and a central line of spots on each sepal.
We growth both species together in moderate shade in our Cloud Forest greenhouse (min 12C) well watered all year. We grow plants both in baskets and in pots.
